I guess I’m being bitter or I must just be re-evaluating the important things in life.
I’m going through a lot right now, but I hear people who use the same terms I am using in my situation to describe their own.
If I say I’m broke I mean i have $0 in my bank account or I have money to pay all my bills and I’ll be left with nothing. Someone messaged me for help because they were broke, but I see them spending money on movies, concerts, big dinners and new technology. If you’re broke and you think these are a necessity, I think you need to re-evaluate your life.
I would much rather bring food from home to eat at school than ask my mom for $20 so I can go have lunch with my friends. I know my financial situation. Any little amount I can save helps my family. Don’t come to me later saying you really need help because you have no money. I can point at every purchase and tell you where you’re going wrong.
Don’t judge me because I am in this situation. Yes, I am judging you for the way you’re spending, BUT it’s only because you came to me for help. I have gone through many struggles and I always come out of them. I have faced situations that many people my age and in my social group haven’t. My responsibilities don’t lie in making you happy or attending all social gatherings. I have a family and bills to pay. If I have to miss a night of drinking, I couldn’t care less.
If you’re low on cash and still manage to buy a new TV, cellphone and kicks — why are you wondering??? There’s a good reason why you’re broke.
Things happen and people are put in situations that they don’t want to be in, but can’t help it. Don’t judge me and belittle me for where I am and where I stand. I have my priorities straight. I have my future planned out along with back up plans. I’m not just going to rely on money to get me there. I have a face and a name. I participate in society and I take part in organizations that matter to me.
What’s going to hold you up when you’re money is gone?
